The historical notes take us back to thousand years ago and particularly when the Etruscans lived in this region and when Volterra was one of the most important cities, as you can see in the interesting Etruscan Museum and visiting the famous Porta all’Arco e and the Necropolis. The Roma Theater, instead, shows us the splendor of the Roman age, when Volterra was again really important.
The present structure of the city reflects the Medieval age, when Volterra was an important Episcopal center and Comune; That’s because every year at the end of August in Volterra there is the Medieval Festival, Annus Domini 398.
